Leland and Broadway

I went out painting today, had a lot of fun! Today I tried to be more bold with my brush work, tried to apply the paint a little thicker and most importantly, I tried to say as much as I could with less strokes! A great learning experience painting in the streets of Chicago. About an hour's worth.

Hey Jason.. paying a reciprocal visit. Nice to come in contact with a fellow Chicagoan. I also wanted to go to the Chicago Academy and become an illustrator, but I misunderstood and wound up at the SAIC as a fine artist. I like this bridge painting.. I've seen it in person many times.. (at least I think I have). Chicago rules and you are a terrific picture maker yourself. I'll be checking back.

Thank you Bill! It's nice to hear that you like this one, your plein air's are pretty awesome, so the compliment is well taken!! I'm really new at painting out doors . . . I love it and want to get out of my studio at least once or twice a week to do it, it's addictive . . . a challenging thing, trying to capture the light while capturing everything else as well!

Check out the work of Ken Auster too while you're at it, I'll getcha a website link. Great painter of city life, mostly plein air!

Glad to see you gettn' out, and yep...I know about that addictive thing!

Kathleen Newman once more invited me to come paint with her down there, (from our Door Cty PA Festival) ...so, might have to run down sometime soon. If we hooked up right, a few of us could go out together. Wouldn't that be a hoot!!
