Isabeau

I'm currently working on many different projects. Some official, and some that I just want to do for myself . . . unfortunately I cannot share most of what I am working on. This post is a tease, only a small portion of a painting that I'm doing for a recent project. It'll be a while before I can share the whole thing, but I felt like sharing something from a painting for a change. My model for this piece is my oldest daughter Isabeau. I can't believe she'll be five this fall.

jason, your paintings have inspired me to start painting digitally. what kind of "palette" in photoshop do you use and do you build your own brushes or just use the stock ones. i look forward to seeing new stuff on your blog and try to dissect it. that's cool that you can use your daughter for the model

Hello Maestro.
This picture is incredible.
Great distorsion (I hope so) and great sensibility. I felt the love and the tenderness you have for the model before I read she's your daughter.
Tell me : was it difficult for you to draw her ?
I tried to draw my daughter once. And if everybody said it was nice, it's been one of the more difficult drawing I ever made.

Jean-marc,
Thanks much! And no, wasn't hard drawing her . . . it was a bit difficult to get her to make the sort of expressions that I was looking for in this illustration . . . I was able to get close enough to the expression I wanted . . . from there I did what I could to pull it off. It looks just like her in an exaggerated form! Thanks again!
